Melbourne Fashion Week is well under way for another year running. Last Friday, some of Australia’s most respected and talented designers had their looks line the runway on what was to be a sleek, striking and luxurious Grand Showcase opening.
J’aton Couture, Nevenka, Martin Grant and Thurley were among the designers who showcased their Spring/Summer Collection along with archival pieces that had never been shown before.
We saw a display of meticulous designs with plentiful embroidering, lux embellishments, the classic power suit that we all know and love and Martin Grant presenting a striking array of bold colour and sparkling glitter pieces.
At just 19 years old, M/FW ’19 Ambassador, Adut Akech, who has taken to supermodel stardom across the globe in recent years, walking for top designers globally and scoring an exclusive contract with Saint Laurent, owned the Town Hall Runway show. She closed wearing a stunning white embroidered J’aton wedding gown with cut out back and train long enough to wipe clean the runway of all golden confetti, it was a true stand out.
Melbourne Fashion Week, however, is more than just glamorous fashion parades but also offers an educational and informative element, with countless seminars and workshops revolving around the fashion industry. There are still limited tickets available for all the action so head to the MFW website to see more.
Until next year!
